NC Wineries Tour This Fall
Fall time just screams Rosé, does it not? And even if that isn’t your thing, wine is a bit of a summer staple here in North Carolina. Here are five great North Carolina wineries to tour this fall.
1. Biltmore
The Biltmore Estate in Asheville is one of North Carolina’s most popular tourist attractions during the holiday season, so we can’t think of many more beautiful places to enjoy autumn weather and sample North Carolina wines. Known as America’s most visited winery, the Biltmore also boasts an indoor/outdoor wine bar as well as delectable cheeses, charcuterie, and locally-made truffles to round out the experience. The tour takes you through parts of the 8,000-acre estate that most guests never even get to see. Whether you like reds, whites, or rose’, there are over 20 vintage wines ready to be sampled.
2. Banner Elk
Also nestled in the Blue Ridge Mountains, Banner Elk Winery and Villa is a notable North Carolina winery that is also dog-friendly! Their award-winning wines and charming scenery make this a must-tour winery year-round, but especially during the fall months.
3. Childress
NASCAR team owner Richard Childress opened this winery in Lexington, NC in 2004. Since then, it has become one of the most prominent wineries in the state. The winery features two locations: Richard’s Hampton Road Estate in Davidson County and Vineyard Crossing at the winery site. Over 30 wines are produced by Childress Vineyards, including Classic house blends, dessert wines, and Muscadine wines.
4. Laurel Gray
Nestled in the Yadkin Valley of North Carolina, Laurel Gray is a winery that focuses on sustainable practices like composting and only using 100% recycled packaging for wines. Seeing as so many people are looking for more ways to practice sustainability, this vineyard had to mentioned. Located on a family-owned farm, this is the perfect fall backdrop for all of your wine-tasting needs.
5. Shadow Springs
Once upon a time, this vineyard only grew Merlot and Cabernet Franc. Luckily for us, they’ve grown to span over 11 acres, growing various reds and whites to enjoy in the fall time. Shadow Springs offers great tasting packages, especially for groups of six or more.
